Off Leash Dog Area in Grant Park
On February 21, 2017 Grant Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA) held a special meeting to evaluate the impact of the Grant High School (GHS) modernization on Grant Park and the surrounding community. The meeting included consideration of the future of the Grant Park Dog Off-Leash Area (DOLA), which the high school project will impact. Those attending received a report entitled "Interim Report of Grant Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA) Dog Off Leash Area (DOLA) Subcommittee” dated February 20, 2017. Although discussed in considerable detail by the GPNA Board and members of the public, the Board took no formal action to approve or disapprove the subcommittee’s report at the special meeting. Recently GPNA received a request from a resident to post the report, and has done so concurrent with posting this explanatory statement. Those interested in the report should read it in conjunction with the draft minutes of the meeting (also posted herewith) in order to have proper context. It is important to reiterate that neither the report nor the minutes have yet been adopted or approved by the GPNA Board and are subject to modification.
The Portland Bureau of Parks and Recreation (PPR) recently announced plans to conduct a public meeting to address the future of DOLA(s) in Grant Park. The date, time, and location of the meeting have yet to be disclosed, but the goal is to meet in April.
